A Little About Me

Welcome to my school web page! My name is Melissa Burdette. I live in Carroll County with my wonderful husband Gabriel, our adorable son Caleb, and our crazy dog, Dexter. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love traveling to Dahlonega for the annual Gold Rush Festival and picking apples in the mountains. I love the cooler temperatures, and watching college football! My husband is a Georgia Tech fan and I am a Georgia Bulldog fan.....needless to say our house is divided during football season. Go Dawgs! In my spare time I like to read, go fishing, workout, shop and hang out with my family and friends. Destin, Florida is my favorite place to visit. I could easily live at the beach. I love to play softball, tennis, and swim.

I am a proud product of our county's school system. I went to Winston Elementary, Fair Play Middle and Alexander High School. Some of the finest teachers at these schools had a huge impact on my life and encouraged me to follow my dream of becoming a teacher.

I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mercer University. I received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College. I graduated with my Specialist Degree in Leadership from Piedmont College.

The 2017-2018 school year will be my seventeenth year teaching. Twelve of those years have been here at CHES. I have taught second, third, fourth, and fifth grade. I LOVE what I do and I do what I LOVE! I could never imagine doing anything else; I know my heart belongs in education. I love to learn and continue learning new things every day.
